Persian Peps

The Rubaiyat
It talked more about how we act and how thing happen thats how they stay. It shows that Persian people are very focused on how they act. They make sure that they treat people with respect because thats how things stay. You can't take back things that you do.
LXXI
"The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on; nor all your Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it."

Manners of Kings
This story gave four simple things to live by; treat others with respect, treat them how you would want to be treated, be thankful with what you have and dont take it forgranted, and be merciful to others. These four simple qualities show how the Persians lived. They treated others as they would themselves and how you can't be mean to others because that could come back to hurt you. "What thou hast said is certain. Moreover, I preferred to save this one because, when I happened to lag behind in the desert, he seated me on his camel, whereas I had recieved a whipping by the hands of the other. When I was a boy I recited: He, who doth right, doth it to his own soul and he, who doth evil, doth against the same." (page 110).

Gilgamesh and The Flood

In Gilgamesh, there was a man was was told by a god that there was a flood coming. The flood was being sent because everyone was being to loud and the world was to over populated. The man was told to build an ark and take two of every animal. The main god was mad when he found out that the man survived. The man and his family were given immortality.
In The Bible, God talked to Noah about how everyone else was bad and he was going to send a flood. God told Noah to bring two of every animal and all his family. He said to build a ark. The rain lasted for fourty days and fourty nights.
There is a lot of similiarities between these two stories. I think that they are similar because maybe during the Sumerian time there was a huge flood and only a few survived, and it also happened to Noah. When it was happening to Noah, he might have heard stories about the Sumerian time for advice.
